GENRE: POETRY
TITLE: VICTORY WILL COME AGAIN
WRITER: BWESIGYE LAURENT, UGANDA
REVIEWER: FELIX ODHIAMBO, KENYA
Victory Will Come Again is a poem written in simple language conveying a theme that every reader connects with immediately. The poet is hopeful that the future will present a victorious state again. Each line of a stanza explores a thought that the poet is communicating to the reader.
Written in a monostich form where the lines; Victory will come again, I know, But victory will come to us like the night to a bat and I know the victory we claimed, created more chains demonstrate a monostich stanza.
The rest of the stanzas do not pick out a monostich state instead they serve the purpose of explaining what has happened and why the poet is positive of victory again.
The poem is written in a serious tone describing an optimistic mood.
In S1L1, the poet is hoping for a victorious future. In S2L2, the poet acknowledges the fact that they were in a rather bad state, "Like slaves in the dirt". S3L3 the victorious perceived future compares to a night that warms the bat. S4L4 reiterates that the poet has been involved with who has mastered the art of control now. In S5L5 and S6L6, that poet expresses his optimistic state having claimed a victory that " created more chains".
The poem is good for a general audience and I gladly recommend it for a must-read piece of art.
