OVER MYSELF BY MUNASHE NYAMAZANA
GENRE: POETRY
TITLE: OVER MYSELF
WRITER: MUNASHE NYAMAZANA, ZIMBABWE

The fiercest battle and greatest of victories lies in one thing; conquering self (insecurities, doubts, uncertainties).
The poem 'Over Myself' is a recipe for winning over self and in his journey to victory, the persona allows the reader to glean these ingredients;
- Will/determination (S1, L1)
- Effort (S1, L2)
- Consistency (S2)
- Courage (S4, L3)
Conquering your mind is the most painful (S3) experience but crucial for a life of victory. Victory lies not in perfection (for a victor is not born but is self made, S2) by rising above your mistakes to claim a seat at the peak.
From its title the poem screams victory, hence, it soaked the theme until soggy.
The tone is determined, proud and courageous.
