NO APOLOGY BY RONALD. K. SSEKAJJA

No Apology Poetry Review

GENRE: POETRY
TITLE: NO APOLOGY
WRITER: RONALD. K. SSEKAJJA, UGANDA

Life gives everyone chance and opportunity but it is up to you as an individual to take that chance.

I liken the admonishing tone of this poem to the metaphor used by Jesus in Matt 11:12,
" And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force."

The poem 'No apology' takes the reader through some of the obstacles of victory; comfort zone and excuses. Your eagerness and enthusiasm towards life (your success) should match the graphic picture Jesus used in Matthew 11, 'violent'.

You made a mistake? Your past is a chain of mistakes?
Good! Stand up, dust yourself and keep pushing. That is the mentality of a victor.

In stanza 2, the poem shows the reader how easy it is to get stuck in your comfort zone/the past but it admonishes, don't stay there, get up!

Never build barriers with excuses (S3), break them, free yourself and embrace your 'smiling future'.

The poem aptly addresses the theme of 'victory' and the tone is both encouraging and admonishing.
