How to complete a new quests from a mysterious scientist
If you have decided to pass the quest from the mysterious mediator and find all the shards, we can help you with that! Keep in mind that each next shard can only be searched for 14 hours after the previous one! There are 6 shards in total.

1st Artifact Shard: Accept the quest through the hangar menu. Fly to Ellydium Theta station and find the communication probe. After starting the conversation, go to the "Abandoned Complex" and use the radar to find the 1st shard.
2nd shard: go to the Collapsed Laboratory and look for the cluster of asteroids as in the screenshot. Orientate where you are, look for the shard among the asteroid in the first photo.
The 3rd shard can be found in the "Northern Mining Station" location on the asteroid opposite the warp gate to the "Destroyed Station" location (on the mini map this asteroid is to the left of the gate).
The 4th shard is available in the "Sanctuary" location. The shard is near a long high stone going down. The stone itself is on the edge of the map. Opposite the stone is a gate to the "Ancient Ruins" location.
The 5th fragment is located in the location "Leviathan. Catacombs" in a recess (crevice). It is well hidden, so look carefully at the screenshots! In order to get there, look at the screenshot from the mini map. Find the recess as in the screenshot. Check where the center of the map is and orient yourself on the screenshots. The shard is located in the middle between the "ground" and the walls of the crevasse.
The 6th shard is the last one. It is located in the location "'Northstar Crash Site" under the right wing of the fallen dreadnought closer to its main hull. At this point the quest is almost over! Look in the quest window to see how you get to the last location after this one to see the denouement of the Larry Seldon story…
