Shell and tube heat exchanger Types- AMETEKFPP

shell and tube heat exchanger types

AMETEK Fluoropolymer product is the leading solution provider for the shell and tube heat exchangers. We are the only company in the market which manufactures the shell and tube with FEP and PFA tubing. Unlike other shell and tube heat exchangers in the market, AMTEK products avoid scaling and fouling by using tubing made from essentially chemically inert fluoropolymers.

The FEP and PFA tubing material has an advantage over heat exchangers made with metal, graphite or glass. The shell and tube heat constructed with metal corrodes causes maintenance and reliability problems when it interacts or mixes with harsh materials. It can lead to failure because the tube is under pressure. The shell and tube heat made by graphite and glass can cause catastrophic failure and costly downtime because of crack in tubes from thermal and mechanical shock. That’s why AMETEK products construct shell and tube heat exchangers with FEP and PFA tubing material to give you durability and reliability.

The shell and tube heat exchangers of AMETEK products feature braided tubing bundles and unique fused ends that provide significantly better heat transfer from a smaller footprint than similar heat exchangers provide which allows any kind of installation in virtually any type of tank configuration.

AMETEK’s products ensure a long service life with no leaks or thermo-mechanical failures commonly found on other heat exchangers because of its proprietary honeycomb process. To know more about the manufacturing of shells and tube heat exchangers you can contact a sales manager or request for a quote.

AMETEK’s Fluoropolymer product provides 4 types of shell and tube heat exchangers which are durable with no leaks. These are as follows:

i) PV-4 Series 3” Shell

ii) 30-Series Mid-Size 4” Shell

iii) 30-Series Model 218, 525 and 1000

iv) 900-Series Large Capacity

These are explained in detail with their features.

a)     PV-4 Series 3” Shell

These PV-4 Series 3” Shell are small and affordable heat exchangers. These shell heat exchangers are 6 feet in length and are suitable for the low flow applications like marine applications, pulp and paper applications. They are designed in a way that they maximize the heat transfer performance of FEP or PFA, as well as the performance of “Q” Series fluoropolymer tubing.

It features are as follows:

●       It provides high thermal efficiency

●       They have corrosion-resistant fluoropolymer construction

●       It comes in unique bundle & baffle system

●       It has FEP, PFA or "Q" Series tubing

●       CPVC shell material is used.

b) 30-Series Mid-Size 4” Shell

This series uses a single-pass, typically counter-current flow design and is 11 feet in length. Tube bundles are joined together to create honeycomb tube sheets. The flexible tube bundle is easily removable for maintenance as heads are fluoropolymer-lined. It is constructed with carbon steel shells and if you want any other material it is also constructed on request.

The features are as follows:

●       High thermal efficiency

●       Corrosion-resistant construction

●       Unique seal system

●       FEP or Q-Series tubing

●       Carbon steel shells standard (others available upon request)

c) 30-Series Model 218, 525 and 1000

It is a single pass and typically countercurrent-flow units designed for heating, cooling and condensing. Flexible fluoropolymer tube bundles are joined together to form unique honeycomb tube sheets that provide physical robustness. The difference between models 218, 525 and 1000 are the number of tubes per bundle, which increases the heat transfer area. It features are as follows:

●       High thermal efficiency

●       Corrosion-resistant construction

●       Unique seal system

●       FEP or Q-Series tubing

●       Carbon steel shells standard (others available upon request)

d) 900-Series Large Capacity

AMETEK’s largest heat exchangers have 14-inch diameter shells and many fluoropolymer tubes, which provide high flow capacity and low pressure drop. Shells are available in a variety of materials, including carbon steel, fluoropolymer-lined carbon steel, and stainless steel. Tube lengths available up to 24 feet. It features are as follows:

●       High flow capacity

●       Low pressure drop

●       Unmatched corrosion resistance

●       FEP and PFA series tubing

●       Variety of shell materials
