Mom's fortress

Along with raising his children, Denis Mireles succeeds in his sport

Motherhood is not in conflict with high-performance sports and Denis Mireles Torres knows this well, a Lagunera dedicated to bodybuilding at a professional level and mother of two children who she guides in the culture of hard work, to obtain successful results.

This Mother's Day will be different for Denis, 38 years old, since this time he will be able to eat cake with his children, Constanza, who is about to turn 10 years old, and Alejandro, who will soon be 9, will be able to spoil mom, more than usual. And it is that for 7 years Mireles has been dedicated to a sport that is extremely demanding, in which there is no possibility of relaxing; As with the work of being a mom, it involves dedication 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (flat-stomach).

Denis spoke exclusively with El Siglo de Torreón about how complex and gratifying it is to combine Mom's obligations with the needs of an athlete who represents Mexico internationally. Regularly, the ladies who dedicate themselves to bodybuilding are single, hoping one day to be mothers, but in the case of Denis the situation was completely reverse, as she began to practice this sport after giving birth to her two little ones.

FIRST MOM, THEN A SPORTSMAN

"I started in this sport five years ago, when I was 34, late, because right now those who are in the top are young people of 23, 24 years; of course there are all ages, but right now they are the ones that are reigning. But I started when my children were very young, I had to put them in daycare to be able to dedicate themselves a little more to me, because having them at home, I could do absolutely nothing, when I needed at least two hours for myself and give myself time to exercising, spinning and it never crossed my mind to do weights, I thought it was not for women, until I investigated and then I dared to compete, "he described.

Product of his dedication and discipline, Denis quickly managed to excel in this sport, achieving the absolute championships of "Mister Torreón" and "Mister Laguna Classic" in 2014, the first time he competed. This gave him the ticket to the national championship, but he did not expect that for the first time, since he became a mother, he would have to spend such a special date away from his family: "my first national was precisely on May 10 and it was very difficult I left my children because they were very young, but fortunately my husband has always supported me and he encouraged me to go and compete in Mexico City, he took care of the children. For 5 years, today will be the first time that I spend one hundred percent Mother's Day with my children, because I am not on a diet or preparation, "he said.

At the age of 35, Denis began to participate in the Master category, following an overwhelming step in the competitions, becoming a national champion and attending the North American Championship, in the United States, to take the big step and get her card professional. His achievements in sports have had to be combined with his mother's work, for which he has an infallible weapon: patience.

As an athlete you have a very rigorous diet, and the truth is that it does not help you to be patient, from sitting your children to do homework, food and everything in the house. But with discipline and above all a lot of organization, you can get ahead and live that process in a very happy way. "

SACRIFICES

As in everything worthwhile, sacrifices are part of what Denis has given up to meet his GOALS: "It is difficult, you sacrifice many outings with your children, such as going to the movies, walks, which I do, but not I enjoy one hundred percent, because I am tired or I only go for a little while, no parties or my husband goes to stay for me, then you have to sacrifice moments with them. If one of them is a birthday, we buy him his cake, but I I only see it because I am preparing, it is hard, but fortunately my children understood it quickly and have been very understanding, "Mireles confessed.

Precisely being aware that time does not return, Denis decided to stop along the way, to rest from professional skills for a year, in which he intends to fully enjoy his children: "Right now I want to take advantage of the age in which They are, it is a very beautiful stage, that's why I decided to rest this year, I felt that I was sacrificing a lot of time with them, so I stopped a little bit to dedicate myself to them, but I am convinced that I will return to the competition and stronger than it was before, "he said.
