The human body feels stressed when it is preparing itself for a challenge, it’s basically a warm-up to handle a difficult situation.

While stress is great for dealing with taxing situations, it isn’t great in large doses. Prolonged exposure to stress takes its toll on your heart and causes a slew of problems such as anxiety, heart disease, weight gain, memory impairment and so on.

How do you deal with stress? Have a look at these tips so that you’re in a better position to win the fight against stress.

1) Set Limits – You are your own boss, without limits your work will always be endless. Make sure you set working hours for yourself and work away from home, outside these hours you should go home to relax and spend time with friends and family.

2) Find a Mentor/Business Partner – It can get stressful and lonely when working as a sole business owner and having no one to share or bounce ideas off. Join a workspace or work from a coffee shop, network and meet new friends or hire a friendly accountant who is also a business partner, an advisor or even an outsource CFO. Make sure you retain human communication and have fun, it’s not all about success but achieving success while having fun.

3) Delegate – As a business owner when your business grows so does the pressure that comes with it, you are the owner, office manager, salesman, accountant etc. Everything lies on your shoulders, in times like this it makes sense to delegate, find a good accountant to take over your compliance, administrative and advisory needs. A good accounting firm in London will have a large network of professional and business connections at their disposal, use them to find Financial Advisers, Marketing Agencies, Bank Managers etc. Use your Accountants to build good affordable connections to help you delegate and focus on things that will help your business grow.

4) Prioritize & Plan – Prioritize the problems that you need to solve, once done strategize a plan to solve the problem. Breaking a problem down into smaller problems can make it easier for your brain to handle the situation resulting in minimal or no stress.

5) Meditate – Meditating aimlessly won’t do much to help ease your stress. However, mindful meditation has a range of health benefits as well as stress management benefits. Meditating mindfully means to exist in the present without thinking about the past or worrying about the future.

6) Write your stress down – Writing all of your problems down helps your brain organize all of your thoughts. Writing is an extremely important tool that helps you get clarity.
