Cybercrime researchers discovered a so-called “trojanized version” of the Tor Browser responsible for stealing $40,000 from users of Russian darknet markets. The infected version of the browser is being distributed through darkweb forums via posts about darknet markets, crytpocurrency, and bypassing censorship.
The co-administrator of the darkweb forum “Envoy” shut the site down to conduct a security audit after his partner and co-administrator seemingly disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
Dread, the darkweb discussion platform that serves as a centralized point of contact for users of other darkweb markets and forums, is currently down due to “a harsh DoS attack,” the creator said in a message on Reddit.
The prosecution has asked the court to sentence a businessman from Singapore to five years in prison for paying a hitman on the darkweb to murder his former affair partner’s new boyfriend. The businessman had asked the hitman to make the death look like a car accident.

A federal jury in Utah returned guilty verdicts for 12 of the 13 counts in an indictment against Aaron Shamo for his role as the leader of a massive darkweb drug trafficking conspiracy. The jury ruled that Shamo–using the vendor account Pharma-Master–had shipped counterfeit oxycodone and counterfeit Xanax pills to buyers in all 50 States.
