Finally, we can speak about whitelists and community pools. They are synonyms. The difference is only in the places where they are announced. But let's get it right.
The project defines a certain allocation amount for the tokensale, let's say $100k. Almost everything will be provided to launchpads, where the project will have IDOs, for example, $95k. The rest ($5k in our case) usually is stayed for the community lottery.
A community lottery is called a community pool, and the list of winners is a whitelist. And the main allocation is a public pool or public round.

☝️ BUT! The Crypto community usually uses "whitelist (WL)" for both terms, so we'll use only it further.
What should users usually do to win the whitelist? 💰
🔸 answering a couple of questions (I post answers, don't worry);
The combination can differ from WL to WL, but usually, it is that basic. You get points for each action done.
🔥 And there is a cool thing about whitelists: almost in each, you can invite referrals for getting additional points. The more referrals - the more points - the more chances to be among winners.
After participating, you will just have to wait for the results and hope that you're in. Of course, every WL has a lot of those who participate, but the number of winner spots is ALWAYS less. So don't be upset if you don't get in your first WLs.

There are the three most often used whitelist forms:
🔸 Gleam - the most popular. Typical.
🔸 Sweepwidget - rare than Gleam, but still often. Typical.
🔸 Whitelists from DAO Maker launchpad - the easiest, but winning them is very hard. Common google form.
‼️ One more thing. You will often see "airdrop" lotteries. That means, that in case of your winning, tokens of the project will appear on your wallet automatically and you won't buy them on tokensale.
