What iOS versions does YouTube Plus support?

YouTube Plus supports iOS 14 and above.

However, if you're sideloading it on a non-jailbroken device, you must also consider the YouTube app’s compatibility with your iOS version.

Latest supported YouTube versions:

  • iOS 14: YouTube v19.20.2
  • iOS 15: YouTube v20.21.6
  • iOS 16+: Any version supported by YouTube

My iOS version is no longer supported by the latest YouTube app. What can I do?

Here are some possible options:

Cast stopped working on sideloaded YouTube Plus. What should I do?

Until this issue is resolved, it is recommended to use YouTube version 20.14.1 or below.

When I try to play a video, I get "Something went wrong. Refresh and try again later."

Before jumping to conclusions, here’s what this error is not caused by:

  • ❌ Ad blocking
  • ❌ Your account being magically flagged
  • ❌ Some secret blacklist

This issue seems to happen due to the sideloading process itself. It may be related to an invalid or missing VisitorID or VisitorData, as suggested here.

YouTube’s detection mechanisms have become more aggressive, especially for sideloaded apps.

Possible temporary workaround:

  1. Sign out of your current YouTube account (or all accounts):
  2. You tab → Switch account → Manage accounts on this device → Remove from this device
  3. Watch a few full-length videos while signed out
  4. After a few hours, sign back in and check again
