On December 25, 1949 in the small town of Quinto, Texas, USA, a daughter was born to the family of Edwin Arnold Spacek, a county agricultural agent of Czech-German origin. The girl was named Mary Elizabeth. From early childhood, brother Robbie, who was a year older than Mary Elizabeth, called her Sissy.
