The dial on this counter scale reads Turnbull’s Patent Sep. 13, 1859. It shows well with its original paint and measures 14” long by 7” wide at the base.
These types of scales were designed particularly for the American housewife to check the groceries which were commonly purchased in bulk and for any weighing needed in preparing meals.
