Tashkent Hosts Eco-festival to Celebrate "May 12 Ecological Education Day."
The Tashkent City Party Organization of the Environmental Party of Uzbekistan partnered with Hayot Shelter for their joint environmental conservation and animal welfare mission.
The eco-festival, dedicated to the conservation of flora and fauna, took place at Tashkent Zoo on May 6-7 as part of the "Day of Environmental Education on May 12." The event was organised by "HAYOT," a public organisation for the protection of homeless animals, in collaboration with the Tashkent City Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent City Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and several other partner organisations.
Distinguished attendees included members of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, chairpersons of the party organisations of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan in Tashkent and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, deputies of the Tashkent City Council and the Shaykhantokhur District Council, representatives of the National Guard, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tashkent, the Ecological Party of Uchtepa District, the Party Chairman of the organisation, representatives of the environmental movement of Uzbekistan, employees of the "HAYOT" Society for the Protection of Homeless Animals, representatives of the Tashkent City Administration of the Ministry of Natural Resources, students from secondary schools, sponsor organisations, representatives of the general public, and media workers.
Prominent speakers at the event included Aminov N., the Deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Matkarimova I., the head of "HAYOT" Society for the Protection of Homeless Animals, Fayzieva S., Chairman of the Tashkent City Party Organization of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, Alimova V., deputy of the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies, and the chairman of the party organisation of the Republic of Karakalpakstan of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, O.A. Begimov, deputy of the Shaykhantokhur District Council of People's Deputies Saydrasul Rasulevlar, spoke about the importance of efficient utilisation and conservation of natural resources. They emphasised that it is a crucial task for the representatives of the modern generation to foster in children a deep understanding and love for nature through concepts of ecological education and culture, starting from family and preschool educational institutions. They emphasised the need to integrate environmental knowledge into the consciousness of youth and teach young people to be responsible and caring towards domestic and homeless animals.
During the festival, primary school students participated in quizzes on preserving flora and fauna, while junior school students showcased their performances. The engaging and educational activities aimed to raise environmental awareness and encourage creativity among the young participants
Quiz competitions on the topics of "What is ecology?" and "Let's be kinder to animals!" were organised by "Next Market," "Next Mall," and "Ice City." These competitions featured engaging questions and answers, and prizes were awarded to the winners for their knowledge and active participation. To entertain the children, captivating shows were organised, and drawing contests revolving around the theme of "I love ecology - animals" allowed the participants to showcase their artistic talents and express their affection for the environment and animals.
As a heartwarming conclusion to the event, compassionate citizens of our country voluntarily adopted homeless dogs and cats who had received special vaccinations and passports.
