Toyota GR YARiS is finally here!
The steel gun models on the market are also fiercely competitive. Toyota also unveiled the Toyota GR YARiS at the 2020 China International Import Expo.
GR YARIS is a pure four-wheel-drive sports car that Toyota has long gone away. Under normal circumstances, the market car is first developed and then transformed into a sports car based on it. GR YARIS is the opposite, developed with reverse thinking, which can be said to be a symbol of the GR brand.
In terms of appearance, Toyota Yaris uses a very radical design to highlight its performance identity. At first glance, the aerodynamic sports envelop is very combative, especially the design of the front and rear fenders that are expanded outside is full of muscle. The blackened big-mouth split grille and the aggressive LED lights make the vehicle full of sportiness. In terms of body size, the length, width and height are 3995/1805/1455mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2560mm.
From the side view, GR YARiS adopts a three-door hatchback design. The doors are frameless, with black 18-inch wheels and red brake calipers, echoing the identity of the overall performance car. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of GR YARiS are 3995/1805/1460mm, wheelbase is 2558mm, and the height is reduced by 91mm compared to the ordinary five-door model, which also makes GR YARiS look more low and dynamic. At the rear, this car basically maintains the design of the normal version, but has been adjusted in details. It is equipped with a large-size rear spoiler, GR tail, and two-sided sports exhaust.
In terms of interior, GR YARiS basically continues the design of the normal version, but it uses a more dynamic all-black interior. In terms of configuration, in addition to the large central control screen, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, front seat heating, Toyota TSS smart safety system, and JBL audio on the regular version, the car is also equipped with a brand new leather sports steering wheel, leather + Alcantara Stitched sports seats, high-contrast color interior stitching, manual shift lever, metal pedals, etc.
Finally, let’s talk about power. Toyota GR YARiS will launch three versions of RS, RC, and RZ. The RS version is equipped with a 1.5L+CVT powertrain. The RC and RZ versions are equipped with a 1.6T inline three-cylinder direct injection engine with a maximum power of 191kW (261 horsepower) and a peak torque of 360Nm. The transmission system is matched with a 6-speed manual gearbox and meets Euro VI emission standards. In addition, the car is also equipped with GR-FOUR full-time four-wheel drive system.
As for the GR-FOUR full-time four-wheel drive system carried by GR YARiS, the official also introduced that this four-wheel drive system can realize the free switching of the front and rear axle power distribution between 100:0-0:100. The driver can directly adjust the working mode of the four-wheel drive system through the 4WD mode adjustment function.
In the normal mode, the vehicle’s front and rear axle power distribution is 60:40; the sport mode is 30:70; the track mode is 50:50. In each mode, the system will automatically balance the driving force according to the driver's operation, so as to meet the driving needs of roads or race tracks. At the same time, GR YARiS has also made many changes in weight reduction, such as the use of more carbon fiber and aluminum alloys in the body, carbon fiber roof, aluminum alloy engine compartment cover/door/tail door, and a curb weight of 1280kg, making the car achieve 4.9 The thrust-to-weight ratio of kg/PS.
