Ford Mustang Mach 1 officially released: power output reduced
The new Mustang Mach 1 has just been confirmed to be launched in the global market (including China). Ford has officially released information about the European version of the model. The limited edition will debut at the 2020 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Although the output power of the European version of the Mach 1 has been reduced, it is still the fastest Mustang ever in Europe and the first Mustang equipped with a 6-speed TREMEC manual transmission.
In terms of appearance, the new Ford Malaysia Mustang Mach 1 European version uses sharp bonnet and side stripes, performance-derived body styling and unique 19-inch alloy wheel design, showing outstanding performance. The new car offers 8 body colors, body stripes and contrasting color combinations, paying tribute to the iconic Mach 1 design of the 1960s and 1970s. The new car comes standard with heated/ventilated front seats, a SYNC3 infotainment system, a 12-speaker B&O premium sound system and a FordPass Connect interconnection system.
In terms of power, the new Ford Mustang Mach 1 European version is equipped with a specially calibrated 5.0-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine. The output reaches 460 PS (338 kW) @ 7,500rpm and 529 Nm @ 4,600rpm, which are higher than the US version or even Australia. All versions are nearly 30 HP and 40 Nm lower. The reduced output may be related to stricter emission regulations. It will be matched with the standard 6-speed TREMEC manual gearbox, rear axle cooling system and limited slip differential lock, and an optional 10-speed automatic gearbox with an upgraded oil cooler and recalibration of the software is also available for better The overall performance.
In terms of aerodynamics, the new Ford Mustang Mach 1 European version is also greatly improved compared to the Mustang GT, including a new two-stage upper grille, front throat and rear lip, which increases downforce by 22%. The new car also has custom suspension adjustments, including harder front springs and anti-roll bars, and borrows the Shelby GT350 and GT500 subframes.
