Battle Pass Review: Retrowave Season
In this review, we’ll look at one of the most anticipated and significant battle passes in recent times - the Retrowave Season. Spoiler alert: it introduced many important and interesting features. But let’s not rush ahead - let’s slow down and go through everything step by step.
Contents and Rewards
As the name implies, this season is styled in a Retrowave aesthetic. Bright neon colors, vibes, and 80s elements - that’s what this season is all about.
For those who purchase the Premium or Premium Plus pass and level it up to tier 50, you can receive:
- The Vento Rosso sports car and two skins for it
- Skins for the UZI and FNP-45 Tactical
- A themed costume with a mask resembling a “squid” (but there is a small catch)
- One spawn item - a cassette player
- 945,000 coins
- 740 diamonds
- 375 gears
- 60 silver and 205 gold hammers
- 15 blue, 8 red, and 1 bonus container
There may not be a ton of items, but the main focus of the season is clearly the car - and that’s no coincidence.
With the Standard Battle Pass, you can get:
- 95,000 coins
- 40 diamonds
- 60 silver and 40 gold hammers
- 15 blue and 1 bonus container
- 70 gears
- The car Volgarik
Rewards are modest, but a free car early on can be very handy for newcomers.
Now, let's dive into the key rewards in more detail.
Vento Rosso Car
As mentioned, the spotlight of this season is definitely the car. What makes it so special? First of all, Vento Rosso is the first-ever Legendary rarity car in a battle pass! And that’s not just hype - it’s reflected in its driving performance and stats.
It’s a luxurious 80s sportscar - a true dream for its era and still appealing to modern car enthusiasts. Blocky shapes, smooth lines, a touch of futurism, and pop-up headlights fully embody the spirit of 80s automotive design. It’s rare that a vehicle’s design aligns so perfectly with the season’s theme.
In-game, the model is exquisitely detailed - especially the interior. You can see nearly every button and lever; only the thin door lines may appear a bit rough at lower resolutions.
Two Retrowave-themed skins are available for the Vento Rosso. The modifications don’t make it overly flashy—they simply accentuate its contours, turning it into a racing machine in an authentic late-20th-century tuning style.
Additionally, the headlights - open or closed - don’t require separate skins:
On the road, Vento Rosso truly shines. It’s rear-wheel-drive, but understeer is minimal: the car is very stable and tends to straighten its path. It handles beautifully, but intentionally initiating a drift is difficult. It’s not ideal for drifting, but excellent for straight-line high-speed racing and swift, stable driving.
As for speed and stats - they fully justify its legendary status. The car is incredibly fast - remarkably so - for a battle pass vehicle, and outperforms many more expensive Legendary cars.
The performance figures are equally impressive. When fully tuned, the Vento Rosso is quite capable of competing with some Mythic cars.
But what about the raw numbers? Let's see how this beast performs in real speed tests:

In fact, it sets a record in the history of battle passes! With full upgrades, it can nearly hit 400 km/h, which is very impressive.
One small drawback: when fully upgraded, the car tends to wheelspin at sharp starts, so the time to speed up doesn’t improve much over stock.
Another notable change: this time, the car is unlocked at 20 level, not level 1. That means you can’t get it immediately after purchasing the pass - maybe a first-time incentive for some to grab Premium Plus, which gives +15 levels instantly.
Also, upgrading it is more expensive than previous pass-exclusive vehicles due to its rarity. But even unupgraded, Vento Rosso drives well. A half-upgraded car already performs admirably - nitro aside, the full upgrades don’t feel dramatically better.
In short, Vento Rosso is a real prize for the price of the battle pass. For many players, its appearance felt like a dream come true. Its flaws are virtually non-existent, and in the annals of battle pass vehicles, it deserves the title of the best - hands down.
Outfit
Yes, there is only one costume this time - but it’s hard to imagine anyone being indifferent. It sports the grand title "Daredevil Squid Suit". Remember the bit about a catch? The mask is actually an octopus, not a squid - either a quirky joke by the devs or an outright mistake.
The mask is pretty funny - there’s nothing else like it in the game. The rest of the outfit consists of a jacket in classic 80s–90s style, fingerless gloves, vibrant blue-neon jeans, and plain white sneakers. The color palette nods to both Retrowave and oceanic themes. All in all, it’s a highly successful combination.
It’s also a rare case where individual elements of a themed costume can be used separately and paired with other outfits in the game. Arguably one of the most versatile battle pass costumes ever: thematic, functional, and fun—there’s likely something for everyone.
Weapon Skins
There are two weapon skins this season - one each for the UZI and the FNP-45 Tactical.
Think acid colors, intense neons - this is pure Retrowave!
They may just be textures stretched onto the guns, but they still look very stylish. The FNP-45’s skin is especially eye-catching, featuring a neon road heading toward a bright-orange horizon. Pair that with the Vento Rosso on the same scene - it’d be absolute perfection! Notably, this is the first such skin on the FNP-45, which doesn’t have many skins to begin with.
Spawn Item
There’s only one spawnable item this time: a retro cassette boombox. What better fits the neon-retro theme than an iconic 80s boombox? It would’ve been cool to have carry animation (over the shoulder), but alas…
It’s available right from 1st level.

Conclusion
This season is packed with many innovations and intriguing features, making it uniquely capable of capturing every player's interest.
The real gem is, of course, the legendary Vento Rosso. It’s been said enough already, but it’s well deserved! Even if the other rewards don’t grab your attention, the season is worth buying just for this car.
It more than compensates for the modest quantity of other rewards. Yes, there’s only one costume and one spawn item—but both are crafted really well, and I’m confident they’ll find continued use.
In my opinion, this season is extremely successful—both in terms of style and versatility of its rewards. All items align perfectly with the theme while remaining universally useful and visually striking. Considering the entire history of MadOut2’s battle passes, that’s something rare and valuable.
