Single Event Page
The Single Event Page is a page of an event with detailed information about it.
Let's review the standard options of most bookmakers on the example of a live event.
Event Card
It contains as much information as possible in a minimal space and repeats the structure of the line. Below is the ± standard layout for most mid-level and above bookmakers. The article does not cover additional services like "tips", "recommendations", "chats", and stuff like that. These are topics for other posts.
Not all elements may be available for every event or necessarily used.
Sport type
💡Presented as an icon to save space on mobile devices.
Category
Country or international tournament
Championship
Usually a local championship within the country.
Title
Represents the event on the outcome of which the bookmaker accepts bets/bets.
Score
Even if it has already started, this information can be found at some bookmakers.
Others use "current event time" (see below).
Current time
This is the hours, minutes, seconds of the halftime/period/quarter/etc. that have passed since the event started.
Status
The status can contain various information about what is currently happening in the game or with the environment. Sometimes this information is duplicated/used in comments.
Type (live/pre-match)
Whether the event is a live event (indicated by an icon/script) or a pre-match event.
Part/Period
Displays the current part/period/etc. of the event.
Commentary
Usually a manual option, but can be automated by adding/duplicating event status.
It gives additional information about the situation of the event or the conditions of its calculation or other important information.
Ground type
Applies to sports like tennis and not applicable to all sports.
Serving
In sports such as tennis, badminton displays the person who is currently serving or wielding the ball/ball/etc.
Favourites
Add an event or team to "Favourites" for future reference.
Not a must, but has become a classic for most bookmakers. Adding a team to favorites is less common.
Streaming
Notification of an upcoming/active broadcast of an event.
Statistics
Let's explore them in more detail in other articles; popular ones include:
Top Market
Some bookmakers put the most popular market(s) in this area, so it(they) will always be available to the players (be in front of them).
Offence Cards
If an event may have infringement cards, as for soccer, the number of yellow and red cards is displayed.
Working with the card
This area is important because it contains the basic elements for making a decision on bets:
- current account and additional accounts - how the game went and how it is going now
- minute of the event - how long has passed since the start of the match/part of the match
- event status - what is happening
- part of the event - started/continues/ends
- comment - additional landmark about the status
They give a maximum idea of what is happening "here and now".
💡It is a good practice - 📌 to pin the event card when scrolling, so that you always have this information at hand. For mobile devices, it is considered good practice to reduce the size of the event card when scrolling, leaving maximum operational information and freeing up space for coefficients.
Markets
Immediately below the event card there are markets, outcomes and additional information. This is the main operational area where the player chooses the outcomes for betting.
Grouping
For the convenience of the player, a large variety of markets are grouped. The name, composition and order of the groups are set by the bookmakers. They use their own groups for different sports.
The latter is the most convenient for the player.
👎 It is a bad practice not to group/filter the markets. The player is forced to scroll or use the browser's built-in search to find what he needs.
The classic option is the "Main" group with popular markets.
According to statistics, 4-5 main markets account for up to 90% of all bets on the event.
☝️ "The best is the enemy of the good", creating dozens of market groups is a bad idea. As well as displaying empty groups where there are no active markets.
Favourites markets
This feature has become popular with the growth of the number of markets, so that the player can choose only those on which he wants to bet.
The "Favourites" icon is located next to the name of the market. By clicking on it, the "Selected group of markets" is activated (someone has a new group, which is not the best option) and the market is added to it. Usually this group is the first in the list. There are options where it is the last one, but this is a dubious decision, since the player chooses markets for quick access to them, and it turns out the other way around.
The implementation of the mechanism of selected markets depends on the technical capabilities and preferences of the bookmaker:
- At the level of a specific event. Works for an event where the player has selected such markets. In other events, this does not work. A rare implementation option.
- End-to-end by events and individual market. It works for a specific market of a certain type in all events. By choosing "Double chance" in football, you won't see it in tennis, but by choosing "Total 1.5", you will see it wherever it is. The most common option.
- End-to-end by events and individual market by sport. It works like item 2, but only within the framework of the sport. A convenient option for forming your own set of markets by sport.
- End-to-end by events and market type. Works for all groups of the same type of market. For example, by selecting "Total 1.5", the system will add all available totals to you in general.
It is very often misleading, especially when event "A" has only one total that you have chosen, and event "B" you will see a selection of a dozen totals.
Usually there are no differences between live/pre-match events, so the choice will be through when the bookmaker has a through line - the most popular option. If live/pre-match are presented separately, then there may be two sets of markets.
Filters
A rare but underrated interface element. Allows you to filter (read - find) information with a specific name, without searching by groups and scrolling. Depending on the implementation, the search is carried out by the names of the markets and/or the name of the outcomes.
Market Descriptions
Some bookmakers give you the opportunity to get acquainted with the specifics of the work and calculation of certain markets. May be useful for beginners.
Sorting markets
Bookmakers try to offer the most popular markets first so that the player spends less time searching for them. However, sorting "from supplier" is not always optimal, especially if grouping is not used.
Sorting markets within a grouping of markets is considered a good practice.
Number of markets
Holivar theme. Despite the request "give more markets", 90% of the bids fall on top markets on request. Bookmakers, following the wishes of the players, increase the number of markets, which leads to a decrease in the page loading speed due to the amount of data.
Statistics for markets
Both data providers and bookmakers themselves prepare and provide various statistics for the markets. Among the popular ones: the number of bets on the outcome (in%), the probability of winning (for the "Winner").
Hints / Tips
Similarly to statistics, they are provided by suppliers and bookmakers. They can be both part of the card and part of the painting. They contain a brief summary such as "Team "A" has not lost away for five matches in a row", "The meeting of teams "A" and "B" did not end in a draw during the last two rounds", etc. The purpose of such hints is to give concise statistical information to help the player with the choice of a bet.
