The Right Airsoft Magazines Can Up Your Game
In the sport of airsoft, skills and gear reign supreme. While there is no substitute for experience and adaptability, there is a lot of emphasis placed on gear and there are some very good reasons for this. For one, a player in some ways is only as good as his gear. After all, a spring airsoft pistol is not going to be much use in storming a bunker that’s going to be defended by 30 AEGs. For that, you might want a capable and fast GBB pistol, preferably with plenty of magazine capacity in order to be effective and accomplish your objective.
By the same token, if your goal in a given match is to secure a location or a trail that is expected to be utilized for strategic movement, then a compact AEG might be of little value to you. You might do better with an airsoft sniper rifle with a 40 round magazine, or conversely, some type of electric airsoft machine gun capable of firing thousands of rounds before needing to be reloaded. Of course, these two pieces of equipment differ greatly, but the point here is that equipment matters. It can make or break your efforts to accomplish your goals in a match.
More often than not, all of the glory goes to the specifications of a given platform. Any airsoft gun or other will be hailed for its muzzle velocity, for its metal gearbox or for its high-density polymer construction. Some airsoft guns are highly rated for their precision hop up systems or for their extreme accuracy that needs little tuning if any to get off the ground. It’s not all too common that you hear too much praise for the capacity of a given platform.
The reason for this may be in part because the capacity of an airsoft gun is not necessarily limited by the magazine that comes with it from the manufacturer. While this may be the case in some instances, in others you can drastically alter the capability of an airsoft gun with some better airsoft magazines.
The most important thing to consider here is that changing out your airsoft magazines can give you a serious advantage when it comes to capacity. If a given AEG only has a mid-cap mag that holds 200 BBs, then after that mag runs dry - which can happen in the blink of an eye - you will need to burn time to swap out the empty mag and pop in a new one. That might take only 2 seconds for an experienced player, but 2 seconds in the heat of CQB can change the entire course of a match and put you out of the game. If you had a different, hi-cap magazine on hand that held more than 200 rounds, you might very well be able to hold out much longer under fire without needing to present yourself as a target to switch out mags.
There are other things that you should consider when you’re shopping for better airsoft magazines as well besides capacity. For example, if you have an airsoft rifle or pistol whose performance you actually love, but the magazine doesn’t feed reliably, then that’s something to change out. If you can find one with better capacity, then you will be able to kill two birds with one stone just by switching out the magazine.
