Day 23 — Speaking Workshop (Set 3)

Phase III · Mock & Mastery · Speaking · Day 23 of 30 · ⏱ ~1.5 hours

📍 You are here: Day 22 · Mock 1 → Day 23 · Analyse the mock + Speaking workshop → Day 24 · Email workshop

First, turn yesterday's mock into a plan. Then sharpen Speaking with a fresh interview set, applying exactly what the mock revealed.

🎯 Today's goal: Diagnose your mock, fix your top Speaking weakness, and deliver Interview Set 3.

You're done when: you've written a 3-line mock analysis and submitted Interview Set 3.

⏰ Step 1 — Warm-Up: Banned Phrases

Spot the "recited" phrases that trigger the AI-tell penalty.

🟢 Band 4→5 Focus your fix on structure and covering the task fully.
🔵 Band 5→6 Focus on flexibility, precise vocabulary, and the Band-6 differentiators (counterargument, acknowledged limit).

🎥 Step 2 — Speaking workshop

Re-watch the weak part of your mock Speaking. Skim the Speaking Task 2 Master Guide for the question type you struggled with, and keep the Phrase Bank open.

⭐ Today's Individual Task — Speaking Task 2: Interview Set 3

Theme: Learning & education. Answer all four. 45 seconds each, no preparation. Record + keep your script.

  1. Q1 · Personal recall
Tell me about a subject or skill you really enjoyed learning. What made it enjoyable for you?
  2. Q2 · Reaction & preference
Some students prefer studying alone, while others prefer studying in groups. Which do you prefer, and why?
  3. Q3 · Opinion with support
Do you think exams are a fair way to measure a student's ability?
  4. Q4 · Broader issue
Should universities make some of their courses free and available to everyone online? Why or why not?

📤 Submit for Hasmik's feedback: post the recording 🎙 and the script 📝 in the "Tasks for Review and Feedback" section on Telegram and indicate which day's task it is.

💡 Powerful Pro Tips

  • Fix one thing, deeply. Trying to fix everything from the mock fixes nothing — pick your single biggest leak.
  • Compare Set 3 to Set 1. Are your anchors more concrete? Your closers more varied? That's your progress.
  • Kill the banned phrases — "First of all… Secondly… In conclusion" reads as written, not spoken.
  • Q4 needs an acknowledged limit — that one move is the Band-6 differentiator.
