Ants as pets

My son got an ant-farm as a gift on his birthday.  His friend giften it to him, but he didn’t manage to buy it to the birthday party and he brought the farm a few days later to the  school.

The ant-farm is a clear plastic box with a removing cover. There were a few ants in the special glass tube - these are the queen and four worker ants. The queen is two-three times bigger than the worker ants.

You need to place the tube into the farm and open it. The ants have to accustom to their new home. Until then they live into the tube. They started to go out just through a few days.

You need to place seeds and dry insects into the farm near the tube to feed the ants. They don’t drink water. But we placed a little shell with water on the farm because it needed a wet environment for ants. They get water from the air. A little tube with seeds is enough stock of the feeding for a year

It is very interesting to watch for the ants, they are consistently in action.
