How I read English books

I started to read English books more productively. Here I mean useful books like textbooks or non-fiction books. So because I need to read these books more than one time, I decided to write a translation of unknown words right into the books with a pencil over the word, to speed up my next reading. And that way is used to learn and remember the new words more efficiently. Moreover, I write notes while reading and learning what I read. I use generally Russian, but sometimes it's more usefull using English as a more laconic language. I started to use it that way because before I read these books everywhere, in different places, for example in public transport. And when I re-read them one more I often read it as the first time, because the part of the information could slip away from me.
This way doesn't let me read fluently with high speed, but it lets me be more focusing and because I am reading into every sentence and processing its sense in my mind for the next writing it in the short form on paper, the essence of what the author wants to be said is engraved in my consciousness more sharply. Besides the notes I am writing let me fast recall the main points of what I have read.
