The incident is from Misrauliya village located in Chiraiya block of East Champaran district of Bihar, from where adults and children often move to cities and metros in search of work. Nitesh Kumar, age 13, also moved to Bengaluru in April 2021 in search of work. However, since Nitesh was a minor, he was soon apprehended by the local police in Bengaluru and sent to Bosco Yuvodaya, Gandhi Nagar, a children’s home in Bengaluru.

Ajit Paswan (name changed) of Sirsia Kala village of Adapur block of East Champaran district had gone to Bangalore in search of work and began working in a bag factory where he was made to work for the last 5 years and was not allowed to return home. In March 2021, when the child’s case was brought to the notice of the Campaigns team of KSCF during a public awareness campaign, an application was then taken from the family members in the name of the factory owner for further action. During the mass dialogue program of Motihari held on 18 March 2021 by the Campaigns team, this incident was presented by the victim’s family and action was requested.
