Powder Coating or Traditional Paint?

The process of powder coating is used in for both decorating and protecting metal items. The method uses a powder comprising of resin and tiny pigment particles electrostatically sprayed onto the surfaces of the item. The particles become electrically grounded, fusing with the metal once it's cured. But why does powder coating get the better of traditional paint?
