ANTIDOTO28 in Moscow

Last year we traveled to Barcelona to get acquainted with Carlos Canillas from ANTIDOTO28 - the brand and store where we have a corner. This summer Carlos and Flora Cosmica (the creator of her own brand of clothing and accessories COSMIC WARRIOR) came to Moscow to present a new collection and have a party in the yard of VOLCHOK: Moscow with us.

In a short interview guys share their impressions of Moscow, the Muscovites and about the trip in general.

VOLCHOK:

How are you? How do you feel about Moscow?

Carlos and Flora:

We are very excited to be in Moscow. Very surprised about the hot weather and feeling the adrenaline of being in such a huge city where you don’t understand a single word and very lil people speaks English. We can really feel the magic of this wonderful place and its beautiful and very kind people, specially the young generation.

VOLCHOK:

Is it your first time here?

Carlos and Flora:

Yes.

VOLCHOK:

How do you spend your days here?

Carlos and Flora:

We did a lot of touristic activities, such as visiting the Red Square and art museums. We also spent quite some time hanging out with our Russian friends and making more.

VOLCHOK:

You’ve visited FACES&LACES exhibition. What’s your impression?

Carlos and Flora:

We are very happy to see the amazing energy in the Russian youth. We feel a very strong and powerful will for a change, and we believe this power is what makes small and independent projects exist. We are positively surprised by the Russian alternative style, super updated and fashion forward. We were also very happy to see all the kids jumping with passion and supporting the bands and all music proposals in general. The exhibition was good, and we were very happy to find some projects very cohesive to ours, so the interchange was amazing. The venue could had been a lil more open, maybe.

VOLCHOK:

What places did you also visit?

Carlos and Flora:

We don’t remember most of the names cause our Russian pronunciation is terrible and words are impossible to read or remember hahah, but let’s try… Tretyakovskaya Gallery, where we finally saw in person all the amazing Russian art that we’ve only known by books. Winzavod, and the way there were also very interesting to see. We also attended to the event to support Ivan Golunov’s freedom, and this was really incredible to experience. So happy to see the Russian youth caring and supporting this kind of issues.

VOLCHOK:

What is the funniest/coolest/weirdest thing about Moscow?

Carlos and Flora:

That they still dance like in the 90s!!! Making slam and pogo for almost any kind of music. We find this sooo amazing and empowering! It reminds us of a time when things really matter and people had knowledge of their power and used it.

VOLCHOK:

Do you like people here? How do they differ from those in Barcelona?

Carlos and Flora:

Definitely! We find Russian people to be very welcoming and interested in different cultures. We feel very observed and in a good way. People ask you questions and listen to the answers looking straight into your eyes. This might sound so basic, but has really nothing to do with the behaviour of people in Europe, where you can literally walk naked on the street and no one would even see you. There are no surprises in Europe, nor interest and therefore, no empathy. It’s so refreshing to meet people with the love and sensitivity to get involved with strangers with genuine interest.

VOLCHOK:

What’s about food?

Carlos and Flora:

A lil tasteless, to be honest hahaha! But really, our vision in this aspect could be really partial, since we didn’t seek for typical Russian food, which was probably a mistake. A must for our next visit!

VOLCHOK:

What did you like most about Moscow?

Carlos and Flora:

The metro stations and definitely, the people.

VOLCHOK:

Do you plan to come here again?

Carlos and Flora:

For sure.
