Lotus

The 2020 Lotus Evora GT may not be as futuristic as the Lotus Evija, but the British automaker’s new coupe does have a big advantage over its supercar cousin. The latest version of Evora, released last week, is more powerful than Evija: indeed, it's only one twentieth the price.

Of course, this is because Evija is the first of the new varieties of Lotus, it combines electrification and avant-garde design language-cost 2.15 million US dollars. In contrast, the 2020 Evora GT may not be so advanced, but its retail price of US$96,950 seems to be affordable.

The 2020 Evora GT replaces the Evora Sport 410 and Evora 400 and is the fastest and most powerful road lotus in North America. It will travel at a speed of 188 miles per hour and reach 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.

For this, it uses a supercharged 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine. This is good for 416 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 317 pound-feet of torque at 3500 rpm. The automatic version of the Evora GT can move the joystick away in exchange for lightweight aluminum paddles and keep it 0-60 mph, even though the total torque drops to 332 lb-ft.

The core of the 2020 Evora GT is to follow Lotus' own obsession with reducing weight to maximize performance. Check all lightweight options-including the $10,000 Carbon Pack, which exchanges food, tailgate, rear bumper, front access panel, and rear diffuser fence for lighter materials-with super decorative wheels, two-door sedan The sports car's scale aligns the dial to only 3,104 pounds. This is 71 pounds less than the Evora 400 it replaces.

As the weight decreases, the downforce also decreases. Better car up and down airflow management-including new front lip, front wheel arch shutters and carbon fiber ducts behind each rear wheel-are used in conjunction with a new rear diffuser to improve downforce at both ends. By adding a curve on the lower A panel, the resistance along the side is also smaller. Lotus said that overall, the downforce is twice that of the Evora 400.

As for the wheels, the front wheels are 19 inches and the rear wheels are 20 inches. The rear wheels are one inch wide. You can get AP Racing four-piston calipers from the front and rear, as well as lightweight two-piece cross-drilled and ventilated brake discs. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber is paired with Eibach's ultra-light, low side load springs and Bilstein sports shock absorbers.

There are black Alcantara on the interior, instrument panel, door panel, gearbox tunnel and center console. Leather is the $4,500 option. The magnesium alloy steering wheel is decorated with leather and Alcantara, while the instrument cover and Sparco competition seat backs are made of carbon fiber. A 7-inch infotainment touch screen provides navigation, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

You can find four ESP mode settings in the information center. Driving, sports, racing and off modes provide a variety of engine and other adjustment modes, including more throttle response and more traction slip in sports mode and racing mode.

Although this is not a futuristic hybrid car, this is an example of why Lotus is still loved by enthusiastic drivers. Concentration, obsession with engineering, and wise application of technology only where it is most valuable are still Lotus hallmarks, and the 2020 Evora GT is no exception. Two layouts and 2 + 2 layouts can now be ordered.
