Competition between the Rush and the Avanza

No matter how different the classification of Toyota Rush and Toyota Avanza, the two models will always be in the lead because of the parts and services they share.

Toyota Philippines (TMP) will rush to buy SUVs and Avanza an MPVS, but they all use the same platform, engine, transmission and several key components.

Obviously, the pricing of the two nameplates will be different, starting at p968000, while the entry-level interior of Avanza is only p743000, but the top decoration of each model is only separated by p23000 (1.5g is certainly more expensive than Avanza Veloz).

On the outside, the Rush is bigger because it is 4435mm long, 1695mm wide and 1705mm high. The length, width and height of Avanza are 4190mm, 1660mm and 1695mm respectively.

Compared with the heaviest pioneers, the Rush also weighed more, reaching 1870 kilograms.

Although slightly based on Avanza, the charge has a wider turning radius of 5.2 meters compared to Avanza's 4.7 meters.

The ground clearance is 220 mm and that of Avanza is 200 mm. Both should be good enough to ease Filipinos' fear of flash floods during the rainy season.

Unlike the Rush of the 1.5-liter engine, Avanza uses two types: 2nr-ve for high trim and 1nr-ve for 1.3-liter engine.

Both 2nr-ve and 1nr-ve are made of aluminum alloy block with longitudinal positioning, which makes the rear wheel drive units of rash and Avanza realize.

The engine is equipped with two technologies, dual VVT-i (intelligent variable valve timing) and EFI (electric fuel injection).

The dual VVT-i (intelligent variable valve timing) works by adjusting the timing on the intake and exhaust camshaft to make the engine start and stop almost imperceptibly with minimum compression. It also quickly heats the catalytic converter to the flameout temperature, thereby significantly reducing hydrocarbon emissions.

On the other hand, EFI is a system that controls very precisely the amount of fuel injected into the cylinder by obtaining an indication from the mass flow sensor (MAF), which determines the amount of air entering the engine at any given time. This improves cold and hot start performance, provides the best air / fuel mixture, and allows superior atomization by fuel injection compared to the fuel delivered by the carburetor.

The front suspension of both vehicles is McPherson strut and equipped with stabilizer, which can reduce the body roll and make more camber adjustment, but it is also a more rigid system, which can improve the handling of the vehicle. The suspension after emergency stop is a five-link axle type, while Avanza has a four-link linkage with a lateral control rod. By adjusting the different angles of the road surface to the vehicle composition, the load can be carried as SUV / MPV.

Both models have ventilated front disc brakes and front drag drums at the rear, wrapping 215 / 60 R17 tires on 17-inch alloy wheels.

Front and rear lamps with LED, rear lamp with radiator, radiator with rear window, radiator with radiator and rear window are designed.

Only the Avanza 1.3j does not have LED headlamps because it uses halogen. The 1.5g and Veloz are equipped with fog lights. Finned antennas are standard with rear reflectors, but only bulb type rear combination lamps are used for all trim.
