Requesting Songs on the Radio
One of the criteria for winning a music show is having the title track played on TV (for example, SBS MTV) and on the radio. While we can’t influence the TV broadcast, we can try to influence the radio by requesting the song on radio programs.
Radio Apps
There are three apps where we can request songs: KBS KONG, SBS GORILLA, and MBC MINI.
How to request a song?
3. Check which broadcasts are available (podcast, radio, show, etc.).
4. Ask to play the song in the comments section. Examples:
- Be polite and calm. Aggressive, negative, or rude comments will be deleted, and the account may be banned.
- Write comments in Korean, but use the song and artist names in English.
- Avoid spamming! If someone else has already requested XLOV, wait 5–6 comments before posting again.
- Do not start discussions in the comments!
- Do not request XLOV on inappropriate radio broadcasts (podcasts, lyric-focused shows, etc.)!!
SBS GORILLA
Step 1: Go to the SBS.CO.KR website. Click the three lines at the top, then click 로그인하세요. You’ll see login options. Click the highlighted Sign up. DO NOT CLICK GOOGLE/NAVER/APPLE!
Step 2: Agree to the first two rules and click Foreigner Join.
Step 3: Enter your nickname, password, country, name/nickname, birthdate, gender, and email. A verification code will be sent to your email—enter it and click Confirm, then press the pink Register button.
Step 4: Open the app, tap the profile icon, and log in using your nickname and password.
Even if the broadcast has a specific genre focus, song selection depends on the DJs. It’s recommended to read pinned comments from them.
On iOS, broadcasts will look slightly different:
To request a song from the DJ, leave a comment in one of the radio broadcasts:
MBC MINI
Step 1: Open the app, tap the three lines at the top left, then tap 로그인 해 주세요, then 회원가입.
Step 2: Agree to the terms of use (second and third boxes), then tap the bottom button. Enter your user info (nickname, password, email, country, etc.).
A verification email will be sent (check your spam folder!).
Step 3: Registration is complete. To log in, open the app, tap the profile icon, and enter your nickname and password.
To write a comment, select a station and scroll up to the comments section.
KBS KONG

Step 1: Open the app, tap the profile icon twice. Log in using any social network: Naver/Kakao/X (guide below)/Facebook.
To leave a comment, like in other apps, go to a broadcast, scroll up to the comments section, and request your song.
