Kernel Flashing

Descriptions

I made a tutorials about How Flashing a ROM for those of you who might need it, and maybe you'll also need a tutorials about How to Flashing Kernels.

Let's start to the Tutorials, and this is the list you need to preparing:

  • Unlocked Bootloader
  • Custom Recovery
  • Kernel File

How to Flash

  • Flashing
    1. Take a backup
      1. Go to recovery and open Backup menu
      2. Only select Boot and DTBO
    2. Flashing
      1. Open Install menu
      2. Search and select Kernel file
      3. Swipe right to install
    3. Restoring
      1. Open Restore menu
      2. Search and select Kernel Backup file
      3. Swipe right to restore

Differences

  • OSS: Kernels with OSS tag is only for OSS ROMs.
  • KSU: Kernels with KSU tag means the Kernel supported for KernelSU.
  • non-OSS: Non-OSS Kernel is only supported for Android 10 & 11 (also see the tag if the ROM is OSS or not)
  • MIUI: Only flash Kernel with MIUI tag to install it on MIUI ROMs, whether it's Android 10 - 12 or above.

Details

  • Backup: Backing up the stock Kernel is needed to prevent some thing happens on the next installed kernel, if the next installed Kernel has some bugs or you just don't like the Kernel so you can go back to the stock Kernel easily.

Notes

  • Follow the tutorial exactly the same to to avoid unwanted things happens.
  • Read Differences to avoid unwanted things happens.
