Detailed review of P2E Pirate X Pirate

Last week I was writing about Pirate X Pirate's whitelist. Followers vote for this project overview, so let's take a closer look at pirates. Don't forget about DYOR, and I'll leave the starterpack for searching here:

What is Pirate X Pirate

Pirate X Pirate is a blockchain game that connects exciting gameplay with the P2E model. I say it simpler: developers offer players to spend time at their pirate ship while earning native tokens. And there are no rum bottles (yet).

Pirate X Pirate is a step-by-step battle with dice mechanics where you and your enemies shoot at each other turn by turn. The dice and your skills determine how much damage you're doing and getting. The developers also added several NFT and token chips.

Activities

To entertain and earn money, Pirate X Pirate offers players three types of activity:

  • Quests - it's just another form of staking. To go in the quest, the player must freeze several NFT (1 ship + 1 captain + 2 crews) for a certain time. The reward for the quest is GOLD (more about GOLD a little later) and depends on the staking time.
  • PVP|PVE battels- combine a system of skills and game dice. You can try the game mechanics there. But if you're too lazy for the link, it looks like this:
  • Open World - in Pirate X Pirate will be an open-world map and rentable NFT-island. The developers say that the island allows players to get resources (which can then be used for upgrades or sold for GOLD) or start their own business. And that's all.

A set of activities is typical for "pirate" games from AppStore or PlayMarket, with only the difference that you can convert the reward and property into real money. By the way, the release is planned for PC, Mac, Android, and iOS, so you don't have to buy a gadget or install an emulator to play.

Roadmap

The designer creates the Roadmap in the pirate theme to confirm the project's seriousness. In any way, it looks interesting:

One of the great things about this is that the team follows pirate's Roadmap. For now, Pirate X Pirate has already launched NFT ships and captains, ran a website, and prepared to IDO. The IDO partners of the projects are Gamestarter, Moonstarter, Yay Games, Binstarter, and Babylon - the most powerful launchpads.

According to the Roadmap, soon, we will see the marketplace and the announcement of the quest gameplay (game staking). I think it probably will be added after IDO.

Tokens of the project

The Pirate X Pirate uses a two-level model of game economics and also two types of tokens:

  • PXP - is a BEP-20 token. It is used to buy and exchange NFT, trade other cryptocurrencies on external markets(listing planned after the release), and convert to GOLD.
  • GOLD - is an in-game token that is used in the reward system. You can buy resources to upgrade ships for the GOLD. Also, it is positioned as the core of the in-game economic system.

Another type of game token is the NFT - captains, crews, ships, parts of ships, and islands presented like an NFT (BEP-721). You can buy NFT only for PXP, so you need to invest (someone does it on the presale) for play. According to the Whitepaper, you will need about:

  • $150 for the ship;
  • $60 for a captain;
  • $30 for a crew.

You can convert PXP in GOLD and reverse, so it is possible to get tokens by participating in the activities. Still, the exchange price is fixed and set at the time of release, so it is unclear how beneficial the P2E system will be.

Tokenomics

If you look at Pirate X Pirate not as a game but as an investment case, then forget about GOLD and focus on PXP. According to the presented tokenomics (also in pirate style), the key metrics of PXP look like this:

🔶 Total proposal:

  • 1,000,000 (1 B);

🔶 Distribution by rounds:

  • Angel - 12.5M (1.25%)
  • Strategic - 70M (7%)
  • Private - 60M (6%)
  • Public - 30M (3%)

🔶 Vesting (unlock conditions):

  • Angel: 5% for TGE, cliff 2 months, linear unlock 15 months;
  • Strategic: 10% for TGE, cliff - 2 months, linear unlock - 10 months;
  • Private: 15% for TGE, cliff 1 month, linear unlock - 8 months;
  • Public: 20% for TGE, than 4 months of linear unlock;

🔶 Token price per round:

  • Angel: $0.0040
  • Strategic: $0.0090
  • Private: $0.0130
  • Public: $0.0180

Usually, angels take the most X-s, then strategic and private investors. The benefit for investors of the public IDO is no cliff.

Pirate X Pirate's Strengths

Analyzing the links at the up and the information presented here, I see the following advantages of Pirate X Pirate:

  • The combination of randomized and skillful combat mechanics looks interesting.
  • The add of islands in the future, i.e., NFT-properties. You can't sell it, but it is a source of passive income in the long run.
  • It is a good roadmap, and the team has already conducted NFT presales and is now preparing for IDO.
  • A demo version of the gameplay that gives a vision of game mechanics.
    Powerful IDO on Gamestarter, Moonstarter, Yay Games, Binstarter, Babylon, and several good funds in investors.

So I see that the project is alive, the team works well, and the interest in the project is growing after presale and drops. But IDO will show if there is enough money raised to achieve all Roadmap goals.

Weaknesses of the project

Bu t also I see the weaknesses of Pirate X Pirate, like a:

  • Not enough interest from players. The project draws attention, but there is no hype.
  • There are no major funds among the investors. That also raises questions about the future of Pirate X Pirate.
  • The activity on Twitter and TG is stable and generally OK but not at the peak. Besides, the game does not have interesting followers.
  • Game mechanics are unusual, but overall the project hasn't the super-recognizable style or high-quality graphics. As already mentioned, it is a usual game for its genre.

The developers don't expect a high start or don't do enough to attract as many potential players as possible. However, the public IDO could change the situation.

Conclusions

Pirate X Pirate is a nice and generally good game for the "pirate" genre. It offers several activities, unusual mechanics, and P2E economics. You can consider it a game project and an investment case, but with all the mentioned cons. It is best to do your own research in the Whitepaper and social media of the project. DYOR is your best friend, especially when the webpage and the Whitepaper are stylized and qualitatively drawn. In any way, you will get aesthetic relaxation.
